The Lavender Latte You'll Dream About ☁️

lavender iced latte with purple cold foam

Organic lavender and vanilla bean powder brewed with the coffee, topped with clouds of vanilla cold foam dyed a dreamy purple - and it's all natural.

Lavender drinks have always been a spring and summer favorite. But most of them get their flavor from a syrup that's more sugar than floral. We wanted something different: a lavender coffee that starts at the grounds, so the flavor is woven into every sip from the very first extraction.

Enter Cuppa Spice Soft Lavender Seasoning. One packet stirred directly into your coffee grounds before brewing - no syrups or artificial ingredients, just natural lavender and vanilla bean.

And then there's the foam. We're not talking a simple froth here. This is whipped vanilla cold foam that we've colored a soft, dusky purple using purple sweet potato powder - a gorgeous, naturally pigmented ingredient that turns your drink into something you'll absolutely need to photograph before drinking. (The recipe is from @JessieRusk on TikTok, but we swapped spirulina with the sweet potato powder for a purple flavor. Go follow her for more aesthetic recipes!)

Why it works

Lavender's floral notes are volatile - they dissipate quickly with heat. By seasoning your grounds directly, the hot water extracts those aromatics gently and evenly, so you taste lavender as a low, lingering note rather than a sharp spike. It's the difference between lavender and *soapy lavender*

The cold foam acts as the counterpoint: creamy, lightly sweet, cool against a warm or iced base. The purple sweet potato powder gives it color and a whisper of earthy sweetness - it doesn't fight the lavender, it adds a vanilla sweetness to it.

Lavender Latte with Purple Vanilla Foam

Serves 1  ·  10 min prep  ·  Iced or hot

  • 2 tbsp ground coffee of your choice
  • 1 Cuppa Spice Soft Lavender Seasoning Packet
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 TB whole milk
  • 2 TB powdered sugar or simple syrup (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp purple sweet potato powder
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  1. Stir Cuppa Spice Soft Lavender Seasoning directly into your dry coffee grounds. Brew as normal - drip, pour over, or cold brew all work beautifully.
  2. While the coffee brews, combine cream, vanilla, purple sweet potato powder, and sweetener in a small jar or frother cup. (I used my Kitchen Aid with the whisking attachment, but a hand mixer or hand frother works too.)
  3. Froth or shake vigorously until the foam holds soft peaks and turns a light lilac color - about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour your lavender coffee over ice (or serve warm). Add a splash of milk and syrup, monk fruit, or sugar if desired. Spoon the purple vanilla foam generously over the top. Use a piping bag for an especially aesthetic look.
  5. Dust lightly with a pinch of Soft Lavender Seasoning on top of the foam for presentation. Serve immediately and take the photo before you stir it
PRO TIP

For iced drinks, brew your lavender coffee double-strength, then pour over a full glass of ice. This prevents dilution and keeps the floral notes punchy even as the ice melts.

Make it yours

Try it iced for a summer cold brew situation, or hot as a cozy early-morning latte. Add a touch more Soft Lavender for a bolder floral note, or go subtle with just a pinch if you prefer lavender as a whisper in the background.

However you make it, enjoy every sip. I prefer sipping mine while walking around my garden.
